RESPECTED FOR CENTURIES & FOREVERMORE

Underpinned by more than a century of history and prosperity, the illustrious Golden Square Mile is ready to write its next chapter – and Du Musée wields the pen!

Heritage

An Illustrious past

You only need to look as far as its name to understand the essence of the Golden Square Mile. This neighbourhood has always been a hub for polished glamour, defined by its ritzy Victorian architecture and generations of prosperity.

Mount Stephen Club: Today

Developed principally between 1850 and 1930 for the Canadian upper class, many of the Mile's architectural triumphs remain standing to this day. As you stroll along its tree-lined streets, you can expect to see notable sites like Ravenscrag (1864), Shaughnessy House (1876), and the Mount Stephen Club (1883) – all of which have been adopted and repurposed by modern institutions.

Today, the Golden Square Mile is the only pocket of the downtown core where you can find detached homes, tucked-away courtyards, and lush green spaces.

Landmarks that live on

The historic Percy Cowans House (1909) and Farquhar Robertson House (1899) were constructed by Edward Maxwell, one of the era's foremost Canadian architects. Today, these grand residences are being reimagined as Du Musée: a destination for distinguished living.

Outside, their elegant facades will remain perfectly preserved, in celebration of the Square Mile’s timeless craftsmanship. Inside, their time-honoured flourishes will be uplifted with tasteful modern touches. A delicate dance between classic and contemporary creates a grounded appeal while giving space for new life, ideas, and beauty to take form.
